Misc. Photos before bedtime

Cantigny and Playgroup

Cantigny was Colonol McCormick's estate---he was an important Chicago figure.

We also had our friends over to go to the park and then at our house for some grilling and playtime. We had a lot of fun. We were all in the same birthing class together when I was pregnant with Alana and have kept in touch all this time, getting together every couple of months.

Blackberry Farm

On Saturday we went to Blackberry Farm in Aurora. It was stiflingly hot and humid, but the kids had a ball.

Alana's favorite ride is the merry-go-round.

This is the reaction when we told Alana after 3 times that we were taking a break from the merry-go-round....don't worry, we went back for 3 more times an hour later!

Alana and Daddy in the mini train---Xander's favorite ride! He wanted to go on it over and over and threw a complete tantrum/breakdown when he finally was forced to get off.

I agree with Xander, it was pretty neat!

Xander and Daddy rode in the caboose for one of the train rides.

And of course, pony rides. Alana and Xander loved them!

In the old schoolhouse from the 1800's.

July 4th Weekend

My cousins Adil & Samiah came for lunch with their son Zuhair (3) on July 3rd. They moved from Naperville to Houston a couple of years ago, so we haven't seen them in a long time. We had a great time.

July 4th at Great Grandpa's house

While we don't have photos of the actual fireworks display, we do have photos of the glowsticks which were an even bigger hit with the kids.

I cannot describe how adorable the three boys looked being wheeled to the fireworks in the wagon together. Well, this picture kinda does it justice.

Xander's first ice cream cone in downtown Naperville

This was the first time (of many I'm sure) that we went to Centennial Beach in Naperville. It was a lot nicer than I expected. The best part was unlike Lake Michigan at our old place, this water was WARM!

My college roommate, Meg and her husband, Dave stopped by for a visit with their 8 month old Jayden. He's adorable, and a very good baby. We tried to get him to try out the baby pool but he wasn't having any of that!
